STAT3 belongs to the STAT (signal transducers and activators of transcription) family of proteins.
STAT proteins undergo tyrosine/serine phosphorylation in response to cytokines and growth factors.
Phosphorylated STAT3 forms a homodimer or heterodimer with related family members such as STAT1.
Phosphorylated STAT proteins are translocated to the nucleus where they act as transcription factors.
STAT3 is expressed in heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney and pancreas tissues. Alternative splicing of the STAT3 gene gives rise to 2 isoforms.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
