Mitochondrial membrane ATP synthase produces ATP from ADP in the presence of a proton gradient across the membrane which is generated by electron transport complexes of the respiratory chain.
These ATPases have 2 structural domains: CF1 which is the catalytic core and CF0 which is the membrane proton channel.
CF0 contains 9 subunits including F6.
