PTPB1 is a multi-functional, ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP), implicated in pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism and transport.
PTPB1 contains 4 RRM motifs.
PTBP1 is highly over-expressed in glioma and, along with its brain-specific homologue PTBP2, acts as a regulator of neural precursor cell differentiation (Zhang et al.
2013).
There are 3 described isoforms of PTPB1 derived by alternative splicing, isoforms differ in having insertions between the RRM domains 2 and 3.
PTBP1 antibody is expected to recognize all isoforms of PTPB1.
