Recognizes the long isoform of human Bcl-2-like protein 1, otherwise known as Bcl-xL, located on the mitochondrial membrane.
The Bcl-xL isoform (the longer isoform) is a potent inhibitor of apoptosis.
It appears to regulate cell death by binding to and blocking the voltage-dependent anion channel, thereby preventing the release of the caspase activator cytochrome c.
High expression of Bcl-xL in tumors correlates to advanced disease and a poor prognosis.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml, detects a band of ~27kD in A549 cell lysateOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
