Recognizes an epitope within the N-terminal (NT) region of Adiponectin Receptor protein 1 (AdipoR1), a highly conserved and ubiquitously expressed integral membrane protein and member of the ADIPOR family, which acts a receptor for the adipocyte-secreted antidiabetic hormone adiponectin (APM1).
AdipoR1 is implicated in metabolic pathways, mediating increased fatty acid oxidation and glucose uptake by adiponectin.
The expression of AdipoR1 in adipose tissue is decreased in obese humans, whilst weight loss results in increased expression
It is reported as suitable for use in immunocytochemistry of acetone fixed cell
