The protein encoded by this gene is a humoral growth factor that is necessary for megakaryocyte proliferation and maturation, as well as for thrombopoiesis.
This protein is the ligand for MLP/C_MPL, the product of myeloproliferative leukemia virus oncogene.
Mutations in this gene are the cause of thrombocythemia 1.
Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants of this gene._

Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 1:500-1:2000Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.

For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
