IL-6 is a secreted cytokine with a wide variety of biological functions.
It is a potent inducer of the acute phase response and plays an essential role in the final differentiation of B-cells into Ig-secreting cells Involved in lymphocyte and monocyte differentiation.
IL-6 induces myeloma and plasmacytoma growth and induces nerve cells differentiation and acts on B-cells, T-cells, hepatocytes, hematopoeitic progenitor cells and cells of the CNS.
IL-6 also acts as a myokine.
It is discharged into the bloodstream after muscle contraction and acts to increase the breakdown of fats and to improve insulin resistance.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:ELISA: 1:10,000-1:50,000Western Blot: 1:1000-1:5000Immunohistochemistry: 1:500-1:2500Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Labeled with horseradish peroxidase (HRP).
Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates.
HRP conjugates are sensitive to light.

Specificity：Recognizes both native and recombinant human IL-6 at ~23.7kD. In Western blot analysis of natural cell products or human body fluids, multiple bands of IL-6 will appear due to the variable amount of glycosylation on the molecule. A control of similarly diluted normal rabbit IgG is recommended. This product has minimal reactivity with mouse IL-6.
