Fyn is a member of the Src family of protein tyrosine kinases.
Fyn has been shown to be involved in T cell and B cell activation as well as keratinocyte differentiation.
Fyn can regulate the activation of PI-3 kinase in CTLL-2 cells, a murine interleukin 2 responsive cell line.
In T cells, Fyn associates with the T cell antigen receptor and Thy-1.
A study of human T-cells revealed that Lck and Fyn had different intracellular locations, suggesting that these two members of the Src family regulate different aspects of T cell activation.
The Src homology 3 (SH3) region of Fyn can bind the proline-rich domain of the Fas ligand.
In addition, Raf-1 may form a complex with Fyn through its Src Homology 2 (SH2) domain and serine phosphorylation of Raf-1.
