• HTR1A (5-HYDROXYTRYPTAMINE RECEPTOR 1, also called SEROTONIN 5-HT-1A RECEPTOR or BETA-2-ADRENERGIC RECEPTOR-LIKE PROTEIN G-21, is a subtype of 5-HT receptor that binds the endogenous neurotransmitter serotonin.
• It is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that is coupled to Gi/Go and mediates inhibitory neurotransmission.
• HTR1A denotes the human gene encoding for the receptor.The HTR1A gene is located at 5q12.3.
• The decreases in 5-HT-1A receptor densities correlated with decreased glucose utilization as measured by PET scan.
• Activation of 5-HT-1A receptors has been demonstrated to impair cognition, learning, and memory by inhibiting the release of glutamate and acetylcholine in various areas of the brain.
• 5-HT-1A receptors in the dorsal raphe nucleus are colocalized with neurokinin 1 (NK1) receptors and have been shown to inhibit the release of substance P, their endogenous ligand.
• Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
• Other applications not tested.
• Recommended Dilutions:Western Blot: 0.1-0.5ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 0.5-1ug/ml.
• Requires HIER using 10mM citrate buffer pH 6.0 for 20 minutes prior to staining the formalin/paraffin sectionsOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
• Storage and Stability:Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
• Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
• Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
• Store at -20°C.
• For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
• Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
