CDH5 (Cadherin 5), also known as VE-cadherin, is a type of cadherin.
It is encoded by the human gene CDH5.
Kremmidiotis et al.
(1998) mapped the human CDH5 gene to 16q22.1 using somatic cell hybrid panels.
Functioning as a classic cadherin by imparting to cells the ability to adhere in a homophilic manner, the protein may play an important role in endothelial cell biology through control of the cohesion and organization of the intercellular junctions.
Therefore it was concluded that VE-cadherin serves the purpose of maintaining newly formed vessels.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
Boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 20 minutes is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
