The expression pattern of the Prox1 homeo box gene suggests that it has a role in a variety of embryonic tissues, including lens.
Analysis of mRNA reveals that Prox mRNA is present in many different human tissues and that lens demonstrated the highest level.
Homozygous Prox1-null mice die at midgestation from multiple developmental defects, and a targeted effect on lens development has been reported.
Prox1 inactivation caused abnormal cellular proliferation, downregulated expression of the cell cycle inhibitors Cdkn1b and Cdkn1c, misexpression of E-cadherin, and excessive apoptosis.

Storage and Stability:Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks.
For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt.
Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
