CaM-kinase II (CAMK2) is a prominent Ser/Thr protein kinase in the central nervous system that may function in long-term potentiation and neurotransmitter release.
Likely autophosphorylation of Thr-286 allows the kinase to switch from a calmodulin-dependent to a calmodulin-independent state.
CAMK2 is composed of four different chains: alpha, beta, gamma, and delta.
The different isoforms assemble into homo- or heteromultimeric holoenzymes composed of 8 to 12 subunits.
Expression of CAMK2 delta is significantly increased in patients suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilutions:Immunohistochemistry: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks.
For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt.
Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
