Solute Carrier Family 7, Member 2, (SLC7A2) also known as Cationic Amino Acid Transporter 2 (hCAT2) mediates the transport of the cationic amino acids arginine, lysine and ornithine and is a member of the APC family of transporters.
The transport characteristics of hCAT2 are consistent with those of the y+ system which is involved in susceptibility to murine ecotropic retroviruses.
