PTP1B, a NT1 non-receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase, has been shown to regulate insulin signaling, integrin signaling, and leptin signaling.
It has been shown that JAK2 and TYK2 are physiological substrates of PTP1B and that the substrate recognition site within theses kinases is similar to the site of dephosphorylation identified within the insulin receptor.
The knowledge that mice lacking PTP1B are hypersensitive to insulin and resistant to obesity and that insulin signaling can be enhanced by the inhibition of PTP1B have made PTP1B a potential therapy target against type 2 diabetes and obesity.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry.
