DUSP8 encodes a dual specificity MAP kinase phosphatase which has been shown to hydrolyze p-nitrophenylphosphate and inactivate mitogen-activated protein kinases in vitro.
The mouse homologue, M3/6, has been demonstrated to be uniquely specific for JNK and p38 kinases.
DUSP8 has been mapped to 11p15, a chromosomal region that has been implicated in the development of a number of tumor types, including lung which is a tissue known to express this gene, and loss of heterozygosity has been found in one of eight informative lung tumors studied.
The presence of a CG-rich trinucleotide repeat in the coding region has been suggested to be a possible target for mutation which might result in loss of function or altered properties.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
