Prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase (fatty acid cyclooxygenase; PGH synthase; Cox-1) is a key enzyme in prostaglandin biosynthesis.
The first rate-limiting step in the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins is catalyzed by Cox-1 and Cox-2.
The cyclooxygenase activity of Cox-1 is inhibited by nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs such as aspirin and endomethacin, though it is not a mitogen-inducible gene.
It is a housekeeping gene encoded by a 2.8-kb mRNA, and is an integral membrane protein located primarily in the endoplasmic reticulum.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry.
Other applications not tested.

For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
