Arrestins and G protein-coupled receptor kinases (GRKs) are key players in homologous desensitization of G protein-coupled receptors.
Arrestin-C (Cone arresting/retinal cone arrestin 3) is likely to have a role in retina specific signal transduction, possibly binding to photoactivated phosphorylated red/green opsins.
Arrestin-C is expressed in inner and outer segments, and the inner plexiform regions of the retina.
