Omentin (Intelectin-1) is highly expressed in omental adipose tissue, small intestine and various other tissues.
Omentin has no effect on basal glucose uptake but enhances insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in adipocytes.
It increases AKT phosphorylation in the absence and presence of insulin.
It was suggested to play a role in the defense system against microorganisms by recognizing carbohydrate chains of pathogens and bacterial components containing galactofuranosyl residues.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:ELISA (direct and indirect): 1:2000-1:5000Western Blot: 1:2000-1:5000 using ECL; suggested blocking and dilution buffer is PBST, 0.05% Tween 20, 5% skim milk; suggested incubation time is 1 hour at room temperatureOptimal dilutions to be determined by researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
