PKD2 is a novel serine/threonine protein kinase belonging to the protein kinase superfamily, the PKD subfamily, and contains a PH domain, two phorbol-ester/DAG-type zinc fingers and a protein kinase domain.
PKD2 is a calcium independent, phospholipid dependent protein kinase activated by growth factors, diacylglycerol, phorbol esters as well as by gastrin via the cholecystokinin B receptor (CCKBR) in gastric cancer cells.
Thus, it helps in controlling phorbol ester binding, catalytic activity, and nucleocytoplasmic shuttling.
PKD2 can bind to diacylglycerol (DAG) in the trans-Golgi network (TGN) and may regulate basolateral membrane protein exit from TGN and also controls the release of secretory granules in neuroendocrine tumor cells at the level of the Golgi apparatus.
PKD2 helps in the proliferation and invasion of carcinoid tumors and is widely expressed in most of the tissues.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:ELISA: 1:2000Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml, observed in lysates of cell line HeLa on ~100kD bandsOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
