TAOK3, also known as DPK or JIK, is a member of the TAO subfamily of serine/threonine kinases.
The activity of TAOK3 can be negatively regulated by tyrosine kinase receptors, such as EGF receptor activation.
In addition, the downstream targets of TAOK3 inhibit, rather than enhance, JNK/SAPK activation.
Therefore, TAOK3 has been named as a JNK/SAPK-inhibitory kinase.
