FBP17, a 71kD microtubule binding protein, is a member of Formin binding protein family.
It consists of a CIP4 homology (FCH) domain at the N-terminus, followed by first coiled-coil domain, a proline rich motif, a second coiled-coil domain, a Rho family protein-binding domain (RBP) and a C-terminal SH3 domain.
FBP17 binds to dynamin with its FCH domain and induces tubular membrane invaginations thereby participating in dynamin-mediated endocytosis.
It also interacts with Rho family GTPases and Snx2, a protein involved in EGFR signaling and plays a significant role during cytoskeleton organization, cell polarity and signal transduction.
