• ADAM12 is a 120kD type I transmembrane glycoprotein member of the metzincin family of proteases.
• It is synthesized as a 909aa preproprecursor that contains a 25kD proregion (aa29-207) and a 92kD mature molecule.
• Proteolytic cleavage in the Golgi removes the propeptide prior to cell-surface expression.
• A 68kD soluble splice form exists in pregnancy where 36aa replace the C-terminal 205aa (705-909).
• This circulating ADAM12 isoform remains associated with its prodomain via noncovalent linkage, possibly acting as an enzyme regulator.
• Over aa29-513, human ADAM12 shares 78% and 79% aa identity with bovine and mouse ADAM12, respectively.
• Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA.
