PAK7 (p21-activated protein kinase 7), a serine/threonine kinase, is a member of the PAK family of protein kinases.
PAK family members function as components of signaling modules that also include MAPK and the Rho family of small GTPases and are implicated in the regulation of cell motility and morphology.
PAK7, predominantly expressed in brain, is found to promote neurite outgrowth and thus may play a role in neurite development.
PAK7 associates with microtubule networks and induces microtubule stabilization.
PAK7 subcellular localization is tightly regulated during cell cycle progression.
PAK7 is characterized by the presence of a CDC42/Rac1 interactive binding (CRIB) motif at its N-terminus and a aa20-homologous domain at its C-terminus.
