Beta galactosidase is an inducible enzyme that catalyses the hydrolysis of lactose and other betagalactosides into monosaccharides.
Beta galactosidase is a product of the LacZ operon, and is a homotetrameric protein consisting of four identical subunits of ~116kD each.
The enzyme is commonly used as a reporter gene in molecular biology to assess the efficiency of transfection.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot.
Other applications have not been tested.

Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
