Prekallikrein is a single-chain, glycoprotein (MW: 88kD) present in inactive form in plasma, pancreas and intestine.
Prekallikrein is activated to kallikrein by Factor XIIa which in turnresults from activation of Factor XII by prekallikrein combined with Factor XII and high molecular-weight kininogen (HMWK).
It releases kinins from the low-molecular-weight and thehigh-molecular-weight kininogen.
Plasma kallikrein is present in two slightly different forms.
This corresponds with two different forms of kallikrein after prekallikrein has been activated by Factor XIIa.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Electroimmunodiffusion, Immunoelectrophoresis and Radial Immunodiffusion.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions:Electroimmunodiffusion (Laurell): 1-2% agarose gel, depending on the test arrangement
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
