• Plasminogen is a key proenzyme of plasmin in the fibrinolytic and thrombolytic systems, the deficiency of which leads to a mild thrombotic tendency.
• Plasminogen binds to fibrin as well as to the surface of endothelial cells and monocytes/macrophages, where it is activated to plasmin.
• Apolipoprotein(a) [apo(a)] is a protein component of lipoprotein(a), high plasma levels of which constitute a risk factor for atherosclerotic thromboembolic disease.
• Since apo(a) is very similar to plasminogen in terms of amino acid sequence, it inhibits plasmin generation by competing with plasminogen’s binding to fibrin and endothelial cells.
• Streptokinase is a plasminogen activator widely used in treating blood-clotting disorders.
• Complexes of streptokinase with human plasminogen can hydrolytically activate other plasminogen molecules to plasmin, which then dissolves blood clots.
• The carboxyl-terminal domain of streptokinase, which binds near the activation loop of plasminogen, is likely responsible for the contact activation of plasminogen in the complex.
• Plasminogen related growth factors are potent effectors of growth, movement, and differentiation of epithelia and endothelia.
• Applications:Suitable for use in Immunoelectrophoresis, RID, ELISA, Western Blot and Inhibition.
• Other applications have not been tested.

• Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C.
• Stable for 12 months at -20°C.
• Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
• Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

• Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C.
• For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
• Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
