Exocrine organs produce various secretions, each with its characteristic function.
Proteinsfound in secretions may be divided into two groups: those specific for the particular secretion,and plasma proteins independent of the type of exocrine cells.
Lactoferrin belongs to the firstgroup.
It is an iron containing protein with a molecular weight of 75000 and it is antigenicallydifferent from transferrin.
Lactoferrin has a slight anti-microbial action.
Originally identified inmilk, its presence has also been demonstrated in other secretions as saliva, semen and tears.
Applications:Suitable for use in Immunoelectrophoresis, Double Radial Immunodiffusion and FLISA.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C.
Stable for 12 months at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
FITC conjugates are sensitive to light.
