C-reactive protein is an acute phase protein, synthesized in the liver.
Its molecular weight is about 140000.
It occurs in serum of healthy men in low concentrations, <1.2mg/ml.
In cases of bacterial infection, surgical trauma and Hodgkins disease, the concentration is highly increased.
It may reach values of 0.5mg/ml.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunoelectrophoresis and Radial Immunodiffusion.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C.
Stable for 12 months at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Specificity：Recognizes human C-reactive protein. In immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony) against fresh normal human plasma a single precipitin line is obtained which shows a reaction of identity with the precipitin line obtained with purified C-reactive protein. No reaction is obtained with any other plasma protein component or serum.
