Alpha-2 ceruloplasmin is copper containing alpha-2 glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 160000.
Its mean concentration in plasma of adults is 32mg/100ml.
Elevated levels are observed in pregnant women, in patients with infectious diseases and the nephritic syndrome.
More than 90% of the plasma copper is bound to this protein.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunoelectrophoresis and Double Radial Immunodiffusion.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Immunoelectrophoresis: 120ul against 2ul or equivalent Double Radial Immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony): Use a rosette arrangement with 10ul in a 3mm diameter center well and 2ul serum samples (neat and serially diluted) in 2mm diameter peripheral wells

Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C.
Stable for 12 months at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Specificity：Recognizes human alpha-2 ceruloplasmin. In immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony) against fresh normal human plasma a single precipitin line is obtained which shows a reaction of identity with the precipitin line obtained with purified alpha-2 ceruloplasmin. No reaction is obtained with any other plasma protein component or serum.
