Mouse VWC2 is a secreted, 35kD (predicted) member of the chordin family of proteins.
It is expressed in the choroid plexus and by neurons in multiple sites, and serves to sequester BMP family proteins such as BMP-2 and BMP-6.
BMP antagonism is suggested to generate neurons from neural precursor cells at the expense of astrocytes.
Mouse VWC2 precursor is 324aa in length.
It contains a 27aa signal sequence, one poly-Ala region (aa124-129), and two von Willebrand factor C domains (aa152-211, 215-273) that likely serve as BMP interaction sites.
Over aa28-324, mouse VWC2 shares 90aa identity with human VWC2.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 1ug/ml using rat cortical neuron tissue and mouse brain (thalamus/hypothalamus) tissueImmunohistochemistry: 5-15ug/ml using immersion fixed, frozen sections of mouse embryoOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Hybridoma:NSO myeloma cells with B cells from Balb/c mice.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile PBS.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
