Regulator of G-protein signaling 18; RGS13, RGS signaling proteins are highly diverse and multifunctional proteins that act as inhibitors of G-protein signaling.
RGS18, a 235aa protein, is the smallest member of this family.
It is predominantly expressed in immune tissues and is characterized by the presence of a conserved 120A.A RGS domain.
It is found to be expressed in lymphocytes, megakaryocytes and platelets and might play an important role in regulating G-protein mediated signaling in lungs and immune system.
It specifically binds to GTP-bound G-alpha subunits and acts as a GAP protein, thus inhibiting G-alpha mediated signaling.
It blocks MAP-Kinase activity and cAMP generation induced by G-alpha-i or G-alpha-q-coupled receptors.
This protein is thought to play an important role in proliferation, differentiation and migration of megakaryocytes and platelets.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
