Angiopoietin-like Factor (ANGPTL7), also known as cornea-derived transcript 6 (CDT6), is a secreted 45kD protein that contains a coiled-coil domain (aa30-110) and a fibrinogen-like domain (aa113-334).
ANGPTL7 is expressed in the stromal layer of the cornea, and it forms disulfide-linked homotetramers.
It contributes to corneal morphogenesis by suppressing angiogenesis and promoting the deposition of extracellular matrix components.
ANGPTL7 is up-regulated in glaucoma and accumulates in the aqueous humor.
Mature mouse ANGPTL7 shares 88% and 98% sequence identity with human and rat ANGPTL7.
