特徴

• Small peptides, proteins or haptens (<5kD) are not very antigenic when injected into animals.
• Antigenicity of haptens can be increased tremendously if they are covalently conjugated to bigger proteins referred as carrier proteins.
• Most common carrier proteins are albumin (BSA), thyroglobulin, ovalbumin, and hemocyanin from invertebrates.
• Hemocyanin are blood/lymph proteins found in only two groups: the mollusks and the arthropods.
• Keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) is particularly preferred carrier proteins due to its very large size and antigenicity in common host species.
• Any carrier protein-hapten conjugate typically induces antibody responses to the epitopes on the carrier protein and the hapten.
• Antibody response can be followed by ELISA using either the carrier protein or the free hapten or free hapten conjugated to another carrier protein.
• Availability of antibodies to KLH may serve as positive control for the presence of anti-KLH antibodies.
• Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA.
• Western Blot, though not tested, may potentially be used as an application.
• Other applications not tested.
• Recommended Dilution:ELISA: 1:5000-1:20,000Western Blot: 1:1000-1:10,000Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
• Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
• Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
• Store at -20°C.
• Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months.
• For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
