The sm (Smith) is an autoantigen on a series of particles composed of RNA and protein.
Unlike RNP, the sm antigen is resistant to RNase, but partially sensitive to trypsin.
It is involved in the pathogenesis of Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
Antibodies to sm are found in 20-30% of patients with SLE.

Grade:Purified
Purity:Purified by fractionation of delipidated and defibrinated donor human serum.
Form:Supplied as a lyophilized powder from PBS, pH 7.2, 0.02% sodium azide. Reconstitute with 2ml sterile ddH2O.
Specificity:Recognizes human Sm antigen. Specificity is verified by a precipitin line of identity with the CDC-AF reference serum. Anti-RNP precipitant is detected. This product shows no reactivity at a dilution of 1:100 when tested against purified La/SS-B, Scl-70, Jo-1, Mitochondrial or Ribosomal P antigens in an ELISA system designed to detect IgG antibody. Anti-RNP and low levels of anti-SSA activity are detected. Species Crossreactivity: rabbit
