• SLAIN1 (SLAIN motif-containing protein 1) is a 61kD (predicted) member of the SLAIN motif containing family of proteins.
• It is expressed in embryonic stem cells plus cells of the neural tube, and also appears in multiple adult tissues.
• Its function is unclear.
• Mouse SLAIN1 is 579aa in length.
• It contains a coiled-coil region (aa21-56), a Pro-rich segment (aa64-160), and one C-terminal SLAIN (SerLeuAlaIleAsn) motif.
• There are two potential splice variants.
• One shows an alternate start site at Met262, while another shows a 50aa insertion after Gln231.
• Over aa262- 483, mouse SLAIN1 shares 96% and 92% aa identity with rat and human SLAIN1, respectively.
• Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
• Other applications not tested.
