Alpha 2-Macroglobulin is a plasma protein mainly synthesized in the liver, which functions as a proteinase inhibitor.
It is a tetrameric molecule with a molecular weight of 720kD, and usually occurs in serum at 1000-1500mg/L.

Following conformational change, the proteinase is deposited within a central cavity where it is still active but prevented from further contact with its substrate.
Removal of the complex is mediated by the generation of recognition sites which react with receptors on a variety of cells including macrophages and liver cells.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions:Western Blot: 0.1ug/ml.
The detection limit for human a2-Macroglobulin is ~5ng/lane under non-reducing and reducing conditions
Immunocytochemistry: 5-15ug/ml in in Human PBMCsOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C.
Stable for 12 months at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile TBS pH 7.3, 0.1% BSA.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
