Upstream stimulatory factor 1 (UFS-1) is a 33.5kD nuclear protein that exhibits site-specific DNA binding activating the transcription through pyrimidine-rich initiator (Inr) elements and E-box motifs.
USF-1 is a member of the basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper family and can function as a cellular transcription factor. This protein has been associated to familial combined hyperlipidemia.
