TPMT (thiopurine S-methyltransferase) is an enzyme that catalyzes the S-methylation of aromatic and heterocyclic sulfhydryl compounds, including the immunosuppressant azathioprine (AZA) and the antineoplastic agents 6-mercaptopurine (6MP) and 6-thioguanine (6TG).
This enzyme is also involved in the normal metabolic inactivation of thiopurine drugs.
Patients with intermediate or no TPMT activity are at risk of toxicity after receiving standard doses of thiopurine drugs.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
