AMPK alpha-1 chain (5'-AMP-activated protein kinase catalytic subunit alpha-1) is responsible for the regulation of fatty acid synthesis by phosphorylation of acetyl-CoA carboxylase.
It also regulates cholesterol synthesis via phosphorylation and inactivation of hormone-sensitive lipase and hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase.
It appears to act as a metabolic stress-sensing protein kinase switching off biosynthetic pathways when cellular ATP levels are depleted and when 5'-AMP rises in response to fuel limitation and/or hypoxia.
It is expressed in kidney, liver, lung, heart, and brain tissues.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:ELISA: 0.05-0.2ug/mlWestern Blot: 1.0ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
