The G protein family of signal transducers includes the alpha, beta, gamma subunits and the effector which are most clearly distinguished by their different alpha chains.
The family also includes Gs and Gi, the stimulatory and inhibitory GTP-binding regulators of adenylate cyclase; Go, a protein of unknown function that is abundantly expressed in brain; and transducin 1 and 2, proteins involved in retinal phototransduction.
The G proteins possess GTPase activity and are components of a complex membrane signaling system that includes membrane-bound receptors.
The system exists to modulate extracellular signals as they are transmitted into the cell.
Applications:Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions:Western Blot: 1ug/ml detects an ~38kD protein representing G protein alpha inhibitor 1,2 from HeLa cell lysates
Immunoprecipitation: 1:10-1:500Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
