One gap junction consists of a cluster of closely packed pairs of transmembrane channels, the connexons, through which materials of low MW diffuse from one cell to a neighboring cell.
SUBUNIT: A connexon is composed of a hexamer of connexins.
Applications:Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence and Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Specificity：Western blotting of cell membarnes of COS cells transiently transfected with cDNA encoding Connexin-40 shows two bands of molecular weight 38 and 40kD which are abolished by preincubation with the immunising peptide. No such bands are detected in western blots of membranes from non-transfected cells or cells transfected with cDNA encoding Connexin-37, Connexin-43 or Connexin-45. Species Crossreactivity: This antiserum recognizes Connexin-40 in rat.
