• Protein ubiquitination and deubiquitination is a reversible process catalyzed by ubiquitinating enzymes (UBEs) and deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs).
• DUBs are categorized into 5 subfamilies USP, UCH, OTU, MJD and JAMM.
• UCHL1 and UCHL3 belong to the UCH family of DUBs.
• UCHL1 is abundantly expressed in neuronal tissues and testes, while UCHL3 is more widely distributed.
• UCHL1 binds monoubiquitin and UCHL3 shows affinity to both ubiquitin and NEDD8, a ubiquitin-like molecule.
• Both enzymes play a role in the regulation of neuronal development and spermatogenesis and have been implicated in neurodegenerative diseases.
• Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
