Max is a member of the basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (bHLHZ) family of transcription factors.
Max is able to form homodimers and heterodimers with other family members (Mad, Mxi1, and Myc).
These homodimers and heterodimers compete for a common DNA target site (the E box (CACGTG)).
MYC:MAX heterodimers are associated with transcriptional activation and cellular proliferation, whereas, the MAD:MAX heterodimers are associated with transcriptional repression and cellular differentiation.
Max has six alternatively spliced transcript variants.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 1ug/mlOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
