Kallikrein 15, encoded by the KLK15 gene, is a member of the tissue Kallikrein family of Serine proteases.
It is a secreted protein found in prostate, colon, thyroid tissues, breast milk and seminal plasma.
Whether it has a trypsin-like activity or not remains controversial.
Several splice forms exist.
The 250 aa rhKLK15 has a 10-His tag at the C-terminus.
It predicts a molecular mass of 28kD and migrates as a 39kD band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.
The amino acid sequence of human KLK15 is 99%, 77% and 77% identical to that of chimpanzee, canine and mouse, respectively.
