Brevican (brain-enriched hyaluronan-binding protein) is a 160kD member of the aggrecan/versican proteoglycan family of matrix proteins.
It is brain-derived and serves as a linker between HA and other matrix molecules such as tenascins and fibulins.
Mature human Brevican is 889 amino acids in length.
It contains multiple domains, with an N-terminal V-type Ig-like domain (aa # 52-139) and a C-terminal EGF-like domain (aa # 646-682) and a C-type lectin domain (aa # 695-802).
Multiple isoforms exist where there is an alternate start site at Met228 and a 23 aa substitution for aa # 649-911 that serves as a GPI-anchor motif.
Over aa #23-911, human Brevican shares 82% aa identity with mouse Brevican.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 0.1-0.2ug/mlELISA: 0.5-1ug/mlOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20°C.
Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
