Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 (BMP2) is a disulfide-bonded homodimeric protein with an apparent molecular weight of 26kD.
BMP2 regulates similiarly to its nearest homolog BMP-4 diverse fundamental processes during embryonic development: BMP2 and other BMP proteins have great potential for medical therapeutic applications, in particular because they allow or at least accelerate the ossification of extensive bone lesions.
BMP2 lacks the natural N-terminus which results in a 15-20 fold increase of specific activity.
BMP2 is a heparin binding protein.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot.
Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilution:ELISA: ≥ 0.5ug/ml; Detects 0.2-0.4ng/well of recombinant human BMP-2 by direct ELISA (using 100ul/well antibody solution)
Western Blot: 0.1-0.2ug/ml; Detects 1.5-3ng/lane of recombinant human BMP-2 under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks.
For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt.
Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
