Human Leptin (Anti-Obesity Protein) is the human homolog of murine Leptin, the protein product of the ob (obese) gene in mice which seems to be involved in appetite control.
The murine ob gene is expressed in adipose tissue and is thought to regulate the body's fat stores.
It targets the central nervous system, particularly hypothalamus, affecting food intake.
Mice with the ob/ob genotype also develop a form of diabetes similar to type II (non-insulin dependent) diabetes.
Applications:Suitable for use in RIA, ELISA, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Cell Staining.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions:Immunoprecipitation: 1:500-1:5000; Quantitatively immunoprecipitates Leptin depending upon the amount of Leptin in a sample.
Tested using double antibody precipitation and magnetic bead techniques
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile PBS, 10mg/ml BSA.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
