Pericentrin 1 is a 75kD component of the filamentous matrix of the centrosome, expressed in all tissues.
When associated with centrosome and Golgi localised protein kinase N-associated protein (CG-NAP), pericentrin 1 anchors the gamma-tubulin ring complex, providing a site for microtubule nucleation and the initial establishment of organized microtubule arrays.
It binds calmodulin and is a constituent of nuclear pore proteins (nup) 107-160, a sub-complex of the nuclear pore complex.
Pericentrin 1 is thought to play a role in the functioning of the centrosomes, cytoskeleton, and cell-cycle progression.

Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Peptide ELISA: 1:32,000Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml, ~75kD band observed in HeLa lysates (calculated MW of 75kD according to NP_079120)Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Grade:Affinity Purified
Purity:Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Form:Supplied as a liquid in Tris saline, pH 7.2, 0.5% BSA, 0.02% sodium azide.
Specificity:Recognizes human pericentrin 1. Not expected to recognize Kendrin (also known as Pericentrin 2). This may explain why it recognizes a 75KD band (the expected size according to NP_079120) and not a 220kD band (as reported for other anti-pericentrin antibodies).
