The serotonin receptors, also known as 5-hydroxytryptamine receptors or 5-HT receptors, are a group of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and ligand-gated ion channels (LGICs) found in the central and peripheral nervous systems.
They mediate both excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission.
The serotonin receptors are activated by the neurotransmitter serotonin, which acts as their natural ligand.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions:Western Blot: Using rat brain extracts of cortex, hypothalamus, midbrain and hindbrain, the antibody specifically labels a single band.
Immunolabeling is abolished by pre-adsorption with synthetic rat 5HT transporter (aa579-599)
Immunohistochemistry (indirect IF): 1:200-1:400 Immunohistochemistry (biotin/streptavidin HRP technique): 1:200-1:600 in rat raphe nuclei, hypothalamus, cortex and spinal cord

Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
