Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine), MW 176, is a catecholamine , a monoamine neurotransmitter, found in abundance in the central nervous system, platelets, brain and spinal cord as well as secreted by enterochromaffin cells (EC) in the stomach, intestines, appendix and in endocrine cells along the gut and in carcinoid tumors.
Platelets and mast cells are rich in serotonin.
Applications:Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions:Immunohistochemistry: 1:1000-1:2000 in PBS/0.3% Triton X-100 (Cy3 technique)Immunohistochemistry: 1:20,000-1:40,000 in PBS/0.3% Triton X-100 (Biotin/avidin technique)Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C.
Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile PBS.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
